About

In 1989 I was offered a job in Nashville TN playing banjo at Opryland Theme park. It sounded like a great opportunity so I locked the cabin door, threw my banjo in that old  Ford 150  truck, left  Kernersvile NC and headed to Tennessee! Sounds like a song already, huh? Shortly after moving to Nashville a music publisher by the name of Buzz Arledge took interest in my ability as a songwriter and published many of my songs. “Walk on the Rocks” has sold over 3 million on country music star Alan Jackson’s CD “Everything I Love”; and I love that! Some other groups who have recorded my songs are Legacy Five (Gospel), The little River Band (Pop), Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver (Bluegrass).

What was suppose to be a summer job has turned into over twenty years of  playing professional music and given me incredible opportunities to perform all over the world! I’ve had the distinct privilege of performing on the stages of The  Grand ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium, Busch-Gardens, Dollywood, The General Jackson, Country Music Hall of Fame and countless backyard barbecues and coffee houses!

I feel fortunate to have traveled this road and to have worked with so many fabulous musicians and entertainers. I have experienced the amazing grace of God in so many ways. (Pictured right) is me performing on the Grand ole Opry!

These days I’m performing mostly as a solo which allows me to incorporate a variety of musical instruments to accompany myself. I like to entertain and tell stories about some of  the songs. As of February 2020 I’ve recorded and released 7 Cd’s. “Shout About Love” is the latest! I look forward to playing and writing more music and hope that others will enjoy it and be inspired along the way.

Sincerely

John Swaim
